The new album by the canadian band Musk Ox doesn't differ much from the previous ones. The music remains acoustic neofolk. The difference lies on the textures that it presents. Now a trio, which includes cello and violin along with classical guitar by founder Nathanael, the new album Woodfall is much more rich and ambitious. Seen as a piece with 5 parts, we have a trip that starts from earthly domains to slowly rise into the skies, and at last to the cosmos. To be heard lying on the grass and gazing the sky, be it day or night. |
