Some albuns make a reviewers life easier. In the case of the new Wolves In The Throne Room album, one look at the cover is all it takes to understand what's going on here. It's not recent this fascination of them. It was already audible on previous offerings such as Two Hunters or Celestial Lineage Yet, nothing could prepare us for this Celestite. Abandoning the black metal that was constant since their beginning, Wolves In The Throne Room create an ambient album, with no metal whatsoever, akin to the likes of Popol Vuh or Neptune Towers. Not knowing how the future of the band will be laid out, if it turns out like this we can't really complain! |
